Safety Glass and Regulation 14 requirements
Glass must meet recognised glazing safety standards
In today’s world we take glass for granted, overlooking how vulnerable and lethal it can become under certain conditions and situations.
Standard window glass and glazing, when left untreated, offers no protection against injury from broken glass. Glass, when broken, either by accident or intent, can become extremely dangerous. In an instant our home or building can be transformed from a place of safety, light and comfort into a place of extreme danger!
Is your glazing safe?
Does it comply with glazing safety standards and regulations?
What are the glazing requirements of Regulation 14?
Regulation 14 requires that your buildings’ glazing, where necessary for reasons of health or safety, be composed of a safety material or be protected against breakage and be appropriately marked to make those safety features apparent.
Building owners and managers who fail to meet this legal obligation are exposing themselves and their company’s to possible large and costly litigation should an accident occur that results in someone being injured by broken or damaged glazing.
Pentagon Protection’s trained commercial building specialists can conduct a risk assessment of your glazing to determine whether or not there is a risk of injury and make recommendations to bring your glazing up to standard. (Recommendations can be found in BS6262 Part 4). Contact us now to schedule a Reg. 14 Survey.
